Alex McLaren

Alex has now returned from a 10 week  Tearfund placement in Bolivia run by International Citizen Service.  The team had been  based near Cochabamba at a children’s centre. The centre, called Fortin de Niño, offers a safe place for children to come and be safe, have fun and learn new skills. It is a really exciting project, with the main aim to keep kids from getting into drugs, violence and gangs, all of which are common in the area.

Blog from Fortin de Niño

The blog follows Alex and three other British volunteers (Matt Burnett,  Kayley Dhillon and Juliet Coutts) as they worked in a community centre – Fortin de Niño – near the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The project is part of the International Citizen Service programme run by Tearfund and DFID (UK Department  or International Development) which matches British volunteers up with Bolivian counterparts to help to fight poverty sustainably.
